Nets as anti submarine defence according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 11 May 1915

An item reported that the steamship Norefos which arrived at Bergen with a cargo salt coming from Spain had underway a curious incident. Passing the Channel off Dover struck she unexpectedly a massive net of steel-made cables hanging between buoys in the waterway. A tug was needed to get loose of the net. These nets were a precaution against submarines although it was still unknown if they were successful.
