Peruvian cruiser Almirante Grau launched according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 3 May 1906

The Peruvian cruiser Almirante Grau (1)which was called one of the fastest cruisers of the world was launched at the yard of Barrow at Furness in the presence of British, French, Russian and Japanese officers. Excluded the second cruiser which was to be launched within some months intended Peru in the future to be built more ships as soon as her financial condition allowed that.

1. Launched at the shipyard of Armstrong, Elswick, England on 27 March 1906, completed on 19 October and finally stricken on 24 December 1958. The horsepower of 24.000 hp allowed a speed of 24,64 knots during her trials. Her original armament consisted of 2-6”/15,2cm guns, 8-3” guns, 6-6pdrs, 2-1pdrs and 2-18”/45,7cm torpedo tubes.
