Russian yard personnel selling copper to Japan according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 9 April 1907

An item referred to the Russian local newspaper Wostotsjnaja Roes of Vladivostok which accused officials working on the navy yard of thieveries. A large amount of parts for submarines and torpedo boats and engines were stolen and sent to Japan on board of Japanese steamships.(1) For instance was on 21 February 1.000 kilo copper on board of the steamship Limyn. During the visitation was discovered that it were engine parts made of copper. It was thought that altogether 400 tons copper were stolen.

1. This is a remarkable item while the war between the Russian and Japanese empires (8 February 1904-5 September 1905) ended just two years earlier and which was lost by Russia with heavy losses.
