American whaler Joseph Maxwell lying in November 1864 at Hilo, Hawaii according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 17 January 1865

An item referred to a letter written by captain Chase of the bark Joseph Maxwell of Fairhaven. She was lying on 16 November 1864 at Hilo returning from the Arctic with 200 barrels of whale oil and 8.500 lbs bone. The catch was to be transferred at Honolulu to the Dreadnought fro transport towards New Bedford. The Joseph Maxwell intended to cruise in coming season to the Arctic and along the Chilean coast.
