An item referred to a letter written by captain Briggs on 17 November 1871 on board of the bark Wave of New Bedford lying at Pernambuco, Brazil reporting that catch since leaving Fayal, Azores consisted of just 10 barrels of blackfish oil. His intention was to hunt in the River Plata area.(1)
