An item referred to the letter written by captain Tinker on board of the bark John P. West of New Bedford lying on 5 November at Honolulu, Hawaii. She returned from the Arctic with a catch that season of 860 barrels whale oil and 14.000 lbs bone. The oil was transferred to the Iolani and the bone to the Ceylon both bound for New Bedford. The John P. West was now bound for the Californian coast.(1)
