An item referred to the Honolulu Advertiser of 5 November reporting the arrival of 24 whalers belonging to the Arctic Fleet with an average catch of 1.000 barrels oil and 20.000 lbs bone. In the last part of the season was an abundance of whales seen en without problems could hundreds of whalers had been active with the hunt without to fear that the whales would be exterminated. New Bedford owners was asked to sent all whalers they possessed. The Ochotsk whalers were however less successful. Just a few returned and all with poor results. The negative results were caused by the worse weather and not lacking of enough whales.
