Anonymous probably American frigate in problems sighted on North Sea according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Courant van Den Helder dated 21 September 1861

An item reported that captain Tap arriving at Hellevoetsluis coming with the Elsje from Nerva reported that he saw the Monday before 10 miles south south west off Goeree a mastless frigate which a wide white band and without a rudder floating at sea. Her crew was still on board. He believed it was an American ship.
