Young lads of the Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Prins Maurits der Nederland and the guard ship causing problems in Vlissingen, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated Thursday 10 December 1863

An item dated Den Helder the 9th reported that 12 midshipmen and other young lads part of the état-major of the corvette Prins Maurits der Nederland (1) and of the guard ship caused on last Saturday evening problems in the town. Mostly armed with sticks they harassed citizens. A young men in the ‘s-Gravenstraat for instance was heavily wounded loosing sight in his right eye. Some of the policemen and other civilians which tried to end were all so wounded. Seven midshipmen and a junior administrator were arrested and stayed for one night in the prison.

1. The former Atalante renamed in 1850, 1869 guard ship and 1905 stricken, laid down at the navy yard at Vlissingen on 9 June 1842 and launched on 21 July 1849. With a displacement of 776 tons and an armament of 28 guns.
