In the board meeting of 9 June 1882 was the possibility discussed of converting the navy locks into a dry dock. The locks were not to be used on short notice for shipping. The director was ordered to ask the minister of Waterstaat, Handel en Nijverheid if it was possible that the shipyard used temporarily these locks for this purpose.
