Dutch paddle steamship Zr.Ms. Cycloop arrived with in tow the stricken brig Zr.Ms.Venus at Den Helder, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Courant van Den Helder dated Wednesday 21 August 1861

An item dated Den Helder, Netherlands the 20th reporting that on last Saturday at 22.00 o’clock the Dutch steamship Zr.Ms. Cycloop (1) arrived coming from Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands twong the decommissioned brig Zr.Ms. Venus.(2) The next morning entered both ships the harbour. The government handed the Venus over to the board of the sailors institute at Amsterdam, Netherlands to replaced the aged transport Dordrecht. (3)

1. Paddle steamship 2nd class, on stocks at naval yard at Flushing, Netherlands 23 July 1840, launched 13 June 1843, condemned and stricken 1873, dimensions 47,00 x 9,20 x 4,00m, 875 tons displacement, 6 guns., 220 hp horsepower.
2.  On stocks at naval yard at Rotterdam 1833, launched 23 May 1838, free loan to KNZRV 1862, stricken 1867, dimensions 31,50 x 9,50 x 4,50 metres, 527 tons displacement, 18 guns.
3. Laid down at Dordrecht, Netherlands in 1828 and launched on 29 April 1829 at in the afternoon of 29 April at the shipyard of shipbuilder Jan Schouten. She was the first ship of this size, coppered and completed there. The edition dated 26 April reported that the launching was planned at 16.30 o’clock.
