The newspaper Java-bode dated 5 June 1871 published an item dated Pasoerean, Dutch East Indies 30May reporting that the condemned Bromo was lying near the reef off Zwaantjesdroogte (Karang ‘s Koko) where a lighthouse was being built and she was used as accommodation for the labourers. The edition dated 30 March 1872 reported the intended auction of her with boilers and engines first half of April at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies. The Bataviaasch handelsblad dated 18 April reported that she was sold on 13 April for ƒ 17.200 to Mr. Nicolai.
