British transport Kinnersly Castle attacked by Independent privateer according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 25 September 1819
An item referred to an item dated St. Thomas 9th July reporting that the British transport Kinnersly Castle captain D. Pinkney underway from Trinidad towards St. Kitts and from towards England was attacked by a pirate showing the flag of the Independents on Saturday 3rd 2 sea miles off Brimstone Hill firing with rifles. Nobody of her crew was wounded but her sails and rigging were quite damaged. She was attacked despite that British officers in uniform could be seen standing on her deck.
