Dutch States van Zeeland decided on 7 July 1588 to sent more warships to the warships lying off Dunkirk, France to prevent Spanish movements

During her meeting on 7 July 1588 the States of Zeeland discussed with lieutenant admiral Justinus van Nassau about the necessity of more warships. Van Nassau referred to the preparations of the [Spanish] enemy at Dunkirk, France and Nieuwpoort, Belgium  and asked for another two sailing ship s(so-called Razeilen) to join the ships already lying at sea off Dunkirk. Both ships were to be manned with the crews of Joost de Moort an captain Evert Henricsen for a period of a month or six weeks. The States agreed and gave the Admiralty the necessary orders.
