British brig HMS Cameleon hailed Dutch merchant ship Amboina underway towards Japan according to the Dutch newspaper Javasche courant dated 12 November 1842

An tem reported that the brigs brig HSM Camelion hailed on 16th July on the position 25.38 North latitude and 120.43 east latitude the Dutch merchant ship Amboina captain Lourens underway from Batavia, Dutch East Indies towards Japan. Everything was well on board.(1)

1. Also called Cameleon. Brig sloop of the Cherokee-class, launched at Bombay dockyard, India on 16 January 1816, broken up in April 1849, with a 240 tons builders measurement and an armament of 10 guns.
