British brig sloop HMS Elk departed Madras, British Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Java Government Gazette dated 27 July 1816

An item reported the departure from Madras, British Indies on 23 April of the British sloop HMS Elk captain J. Reynolds for cruising.(1)

1. Brig sloop of the Cruizer-class, fir-built, launched at the shipyard of Barnard, Deptford, England on 22 August 1804, broken up 1812, a 382 tons builders measurement and an armament of 18 guns.
