French corvette l’Egerie bound for Sumatra according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated 9 April 1841
An item referred to a letter dat St. Denis, Bourbon [Réunion] 17th December 1840 reporting the intended departure the same day of the French corvette l’Egerie towards Sumatra, Dutch East Indies to punish the kingdom [not correct ws a sultanate] of Aceh (in the past Achim and in Dutch Atjeh) for their harassing French merchant ships. From there she was bound for Calcutta, British Indies, to be stationed on the Ganges for 1-2 months and via Madras, British Indies, Pondicherry (Puducherry) and Trincomalee, Sri Lanka returning towards Bourbon.
