Russia fitting out auxiliary cruisers at Sevastopol according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 29 January 1886

An item dated Sevastopol, Russia the 28th reported that several ships of the so-called Voluntary Fleet were fitted out to be used as auxiliary cruisers. It was commonly believed that these ships were commissioned against the beginning of the spring.(1)

1. Armenians were then revolting against the Turkish empire with Russia having major interests in Armenia.
