Building of four German cruisers approved according to the Dutch newspaper De locomotief dated 2 March 1895

An item reported that during the debate dealing with the German naval budget in the Reichtstag the cabinet emphatic asked to increase the number of cruisers to protect the German commerce, the interests of German nationals and of German interests especially regarded the war between China an Japan.(1) With a large majority was the building of four cruisers approved.
