German navy signed contract for purchasing Transatlantic liners in times of war according to the Dutch newspaper De Surinamer dated 2 June 1895

An item reported that the German department of navy signed a contract with the Bremer Lloyd and a steam shipping company of Hamburg, Germany to hand over in times of war six of their large Transatlantic liners. The liners were in 1895 to participate in the naval maneuvers.
