Crew of Norwegian bark Margrethe underway from Dutch East Indies towards USA harassed by sickness according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 18 March 1892

An item reported that the Norwegian bark Margrethe captain Waaler which left November 1891 Padang loaded with cargo towards New York, USA arrived on 21 January in the Table Bay, South Africa. At the moment they were at sea was the crew harassed by a disease which was believed to be malaria; the newspaper believed that the cargo coffee caused the problems. Eight sailors died and at the arrival were just four men including the captain to work, five other sailors were still sick.
