Dutch screw steam warships Zr.Ms. Willem, Java and Leeuwarden bound for the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche courant dated 4 September 1866

An item reported that the Dutch screw steamship Zr.Ms. Willem (1) captain F.L Geerling, steam transport Java (2) captain lieutenant H.A. Modderman, both lying at Willemsoord, Netherlands and the screw steamship Leeuwarden (3) captain lieutenant A.J. Kroef lying at Vlissingen, Netherlands all were to depart on the 20th towards the Dutch East Indies.

Screw steamship 1st class, call sign GRCM, wood-built, laid down at the navy yard of Amsterdam, Netherlands 19 February 1861, launched on 8 July 1863, first departure to sea on 16 September 1866, decommissioned on 15 September 1871, stricken 1874, building costs ƒ 787.535,61½, with a displacement of 2.030 tons and as dimensions 58,00-62,84 x 12,25 x 5,50 metres, a horsepower of 700 hp allowing a speed if 8,5 miles, the armament consisted of 8 long 30pd guns and 8 rifled 16cm guns and a crew numbering 225 men.

Screw steam transport, laid down at the navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands on 5 September 1863 and launched on 19 July 1865, commissioned on 16 August 1866, decommissioned 15 June 1874, stricken in 1875 and broken up 1876. Dimensions 68,5 (between perpendiculars)-72,4 (over all) x 12 (inner hull) x 5 (fore)-5,5 (aft) x 6,68 (depth) and a displacement of 2,285,21 tons and a tonnage of 1.728 tons. The armament consisted of 6-30 pd guns (transport)-26-30pd guns (warship).
3. Screw steamship 1st class, on stocks at the navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands, Netherlands 6 December 1859, launched Saturday 13.30 o’clock 19 October 1861, condemned  1886, decommissioned 20 September 1885 and sold at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies for ƒ 26.050 23 January 1886, dimensions 58,00-62,84m (over all) x 12,25 x 5,50 metres, 2.030 tons displacement, 10 guns (10 rifled 16cm guns, 1881: 6-12cm guns, 4 rifled 16cm guns), 212-225 men, 8,5 knots speed and 250 hp horsepower.
