Foreign built steam warships arriving in Japan bought by the daimyo’s according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 27 March 1866

An item reported the arrival at Yokohama, Japan of several steam warships bought from American, French and British shipyards by Japanese daimyo’s. Four were property of the daimyo of Satsuma (which was the richest daimyo of all), one of the daimyo of Kaga, one of the daimyo of Nagata and so on.
