German steam corvette SMS Gneisenau arrived at the Nieuwediep, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated Wednesday 20 July 1892

An item reported the arrival of the German frigate SMS Gneisenau (1) corvette captain Stubenrauch (2) on Monday at Nieuwediep, Netherlands for a week stay. The Gneisenau was coming from Edinburgh, Scotland.

Screw steam corvette of the Bismarck-class, Laid down at the Kaiserliche Werft Danzig, Danzig in June 1877, launched on 4 September 1879, completed on 3 October 1880, grounded at the harbour mole and sunk during a gale off Malaga, Spain on 16 December 1900, with a displacement of 3.040 long tons/3.089 tons and an armament of 14-15cm/5.9” guns, 2-8,8cm/3.5” quick firing guns and 6-3,7cm/”1.5” 5-barrelled guns.
2. Presumably Karl Rdolf Felix Subenrauch (7 March 1850 Bütow, Germany-15 September 1931 Mönkeberg, Germany) who re retired in the rank of rear admiral.
