The German naval strength according to the Ducth newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 10 December 1892

An item dated Berlin, Germany 9th reported that a new ship for the German navy was completed based on a design of the emperor himself.(1) Most important detail was that the cabins of officers and the rest of the crew were located on deck which desirable for the hygiene. If necessary the cabins could be easily removed and stored in the cargo hold. At that moment numbered the German navy 14 large armoured ships, 18 2nd class armoured ships, 2 cruiser frigates, 9 cruiser corvettes, 8 standard cruisers. 9 aviso’s and a large number of gunboats and torpedo boats.
