British frigate HMS Cornwall (F99) 1983-2013

Call sign GLDU. Batch 3 Type 22 frigate. Laid down at the shipyard of Yarrow Shipbuilders on 14 December 1983, launched on 14 October 1985, sponsored by Diana, Princess of Wales, commissioned on 23 April 1998, decommissioned on 30 June 2011, for sale since January 2013, sold to the Swansea Drydocks to be broke up in June and towed towards Swansea on 24 October. 

Displacement 5.300 tons and as dimensions 148,1 x 14,8 x 6,4 metres or 486;9” x 48’6”x 21’. Speed 18 (cruise)-30 (maximum) knots. Crew numbered 250-301 men. Her armament consisted of 2-Seawolf anti air system for which 72 missiles were carried with her, 2-Quad Harpoon missile launchers for which 8 Harpoons were carried with her, 2x3 Magazine launched anti submarine torpedo tube for which 36 torpedoes were carried with her, 1-11,4cm/4.5”gun, 2-2cm GAM-BO1 guns, 1 Goalkeeper CIWS and NATO Seagnat Decoy launchers.
