Dutch seal hunting on the North Sea according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 19 March 1864

An item dated Groningen, Netherlands 16th reported that seal hunting on the North Sea seemed to be a prosperous way of business. Since some years was a fisherman of Eenrum, Netherlands during the 3 summer months active catching yearly 2.000-3.000 seals with as profits for the skins and train ƒ 1.200-1.500. He ordered the building of the coppered strong vessel Jonge Zeehond for seal hunting on an extended scale.
