First steam seal hunter and whaler leaving the Tyne according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 23 May 1857

An item reported that the first iron screw steamship fitted out for whaling and seal hunting left the Tyne towards Davis Strait. It was believed that in the near future just steamships would be used for the whaling.
