German Greenland whalers successful according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamsche courant dated 21 July 1796
An item reported the arrival at Altona, Germany of the commandeur Petersen with a catch of 9 whales and 130 quardelen en 90 quardelen seal blubber. He left the ice on 19 June and Greenland on the 23rd. There were a lot of whales seen, the ice was very broad. He reported also the results of other commandeurs C. Klorn 13 whales, J. Klorn 9 whales, M. Meeuw 7 whales, A. Walig 6 whales, L. Peper and J. Gauw each 5 whales, C. Kamp en D. Pronk each 4,5 whale, R.O. Meeuw 4 whales, B. Goijck (?), J.S. Walig and J.H. Arends each 2 whales.
