A letter written by captain Coffin of the bark Alabama of Nantucket reported that she was lying at Tahiti on 20th May. At that moment was she leaking and the intention was to stop the leaking and go homewards around 28th May. She was loaded with 1.175 barrels sperm oil.(1)
