Harbour of Kertch, Russia visited by remarkable Russian and French ships according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 18 August 1843

An item referred to a tiding dated Kertch, Russia 12th July reporting the visits of two remarkable ships. One was a Russian 3-master the first and only ship in Russia built completely of iron and furthermore the French corvette Indus built in 1719 and so aged 124 years. Her commanding officer was Fary. The wood of the underwater hull was so hard that it was impossible to penetrate by nails and fire was needed to pierce it.
