Movements of the Dutch warships Pijl, Castor, Jason and Bromo according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated Tuesday 8 August 1843

Zr.Ms. Bromo

An item dated Middelburg, Netherlands 7th reported that the Friday before the Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Castor (1) and the brig Pijl (2) returned to the roads of Vlissingen, Netherlands. On the 7th were both ships and the frigate Jason (3) towards open sea towed by the steamship Bromo (4). The latter ship returned last Saturday from the North Sea squadron.

Brig 2nd class, on stocks at the navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands 21 July 1838, launched 6 October 1841, docked at navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 30 March-31 May 1847, again 8 June-9 August 1854. stricken 1854, coal hulk 1860 (14-19 June 1860 was a coal hulk Pijl docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis), dimensions 28,00m x 8,40m x ?, draught 3,85m, 327 tons displacement, 14 guns.
3. Frigate 2nd class, on stocks at the navy yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands by P. Glavimans 1824, launched 1829, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 30 May-11 June 1834, guard ship at Willemsoord, Netherlands 1847, condemned 30 April 1850, sold on the navy yard at Willemsoord for ƒ 23.0000 to be broken up Tuesday 10.00 o’clock 19 November 1850, 1461 tons displacement and armament of 44 guns.
4. Paddle steamship 2nd class, call sign GQDS, laid down at the navy yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands by C.J. Glavimans on 18 November 1840, launched on 4 May 1842, stricken 1871, displacement 546 tons dimensions 52,00 (waterline) x 10,00 (inner hull) x 4,4 (fore)-4,80 (aft) x 6,03 (depth) on metres, building costs ƒ 508.960.00. 1 funnel, 3 masts, a horsepower of 220 hp and an armament of 8 guns.
