Large carbide explosion on board of the Dutch tug trawler Rijp according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 3 November 1918

An item reported that a huge carbide explosion damaged the Dutch tug trawler Rijp and seriously wounded her master. Probably was the connection between two pipes preventing the burning of the gas and instead filling the fish cargo hold. The master while investigating the cargo hold strike a match with a gas explosion as result.
