Dutch 3 cylinder 900 ton submarines project 2075 of 1949

After the Second World War was the Dutch submarine fleet almost reduced to nothing. In the next period depended the navy on submarines of British and American origin. In the meantime were designs made to produce an own submarine using a so-called 3 cylinder design. The N.V. Nederlandsche Vereenigde Scheepsbouw Bureaux [Netherlands United Shipbuilding Offices] in which the Royal Netherlands navy and the major Dutch shipyards were represented made some potential designs including project 2075, a 900 ton 3-cylinder submarine. The dimensions were to be 72,75 (over all) x 7,70 (outside thrush) x 6,73 (hold below upper side superstructure) metres and a displacement of 874,4 (empty)-900 (standard)-1.236,9 (trimmed)-1.6001,9 (submerged) tons. The crew was to number 61 men. Diving depth 180-200 metres. The armament consisted of 8 torpedo tubes. Speed 17 (surfaced)-17,5/19 (submerged) knots. The choice to offer this smaller submarine in contrary to what the Royal Netherlands Navy wished was the available budget 1949. A second project was a 1.450 tons submarine.
