Dutch tug Veendam broke ice in the Tjeukemeer, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag dated 2 January 1903

An item reported that the Dutch tug Veendam captain Kok succeeded on breaking the ice in the Tjeukemeer, Friesland, Netherlands allowing the passing of ships which was impossible since 30 December 1902.
