French privateer l’Amiral Gantheaume captured British merchant ships according to the Dutch newspaper Koninklijke courant dated 25 April 1809

An item reported that the French privateer l’Amiral Gantheaume of Bordeaux, France captured on 3 February off the bank Gatila the British brig Elisa coming from Malta loaded with manna, lemons, rosins and hemp underway towards Liverpool, England as part of a convoy numbering 10 ships. A day later she captured a second British ship underway from Brazil and Gibraltar towards Malta loaded with tobacco, sugar, skins and so on. Eleven British prisoners of war were brought to Marseille, France.
