British screw steam gunboat HMS Rattle visited hastily Anjer, Dutch East Indies underway towards the Cocos Islands according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 27 September 1887

An item reported that the British warship Rattler visited on yesterday morning Anjer [nowadays Anyer, Indonesia] to sent some telegrams and continued afterwards her voyage to the Cocos Islands.(1)

1. Composite built Screw steam gunboat launched at the shipyard of Armstrong, Mitchell on 4 August1886, harbour service since 1910, renamed Dryad as navigation school ship in September 1919 and finally sold in October 1924.
