Danish and German warships fighting off Kiel, Germany with Russian warships nearby according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 22 August 1850

An item dated Hamburg, Germany 16th reported the presence of some Russian warships off the entrance of the canal to Holstein although keeping neutral. A telegram reported in the meantime that on the 16th the armed steamship Löwe and two gunboats of Schleswig-Holstein fought with a Danish steamship and two gunboats off Friedrichs-ort, Kiel, Germany. The Löwe was a few times hit in her hull and of the gunboats was set into fire, but the Danish ships were driven back.
