Hr.Ms. Dolfijn 1960-1985
On 29 September 1960 spoke the former Dutch vice admiral Burghard (1) with Mr. C.G. Joannides at Athens, Greece about the submarine plans of the Greek navy. Joannides suggested to contact unofficial Greek staff officers who according to him were very interested in the Dutch 800-ton 3 cylinder project. Further more wanted the Greek navy to obtain corvettes. This was discussed in the Dutch firm Nederlandsche Vereenigde Scheepsbouw Bureaux (NEVESBU) at The Hague, Netherlands but never resulted in building such a submarine built for the Greek navy.(2) Despite that several navies were interested in the 3-cylinder design were except for the Royal Netherlands Navy none such submarines built.
