Dutch frigate Zr. Ms. Rijn and corvette Zr. Ms. Argo underway from the Dutch East Indies towards the Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 20 February 1851

The Zr. Ms. Rijn

An item reported the departure on 1 December 1850 from Batavia, Dutch East Indies by the Dutch frigate Zr. Ms. Rijn (1) captain F.H. Johr (2) and on the 6th of the corvette Zr.Ms. Argo (3) captain C. van der Hart both to the Netherlands.

1. Rijn, also called Rhijn, laid down as the French La Vestale at the navy shipyard at Rotterdam, Netherlands by P. Glavimans in March 1813, handed over to the Netherlands in 1814 and renamed Rijn, launched on 5 October 1816, lengthened in 1825, conversion into a paddle steamship failed, shortened 1830, guard ship at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands and Willemsoord, Netherlands since 1852, broken up at Hellevoetsluis in 1875, dimensions 145 x 36,8 x 19 French feet or 55,25 x 12,3 x 5,75 metres and an armament of 44-54 guns (since 1830).
2. Frederik Anton Jöhr (1796 Curacao-19 January 1869 Amsterdam, Netherlands), finally dismissed in the rank of rear admiral.
3. ‘Kuil’corvette, laid down at the navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1833, launched on 12 April 1838, target in 1851, last mentioned in 1854, 900 tons displacement, dimensions 39,50 (between perpendiculars) x 10,80 x 5,00 metres and an armament of 32 guns.
