Dutch merchant ships chartered for Boni-expedition in the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 4 March 1859

An item reported that the Dutch expeditionary force departed on 15th January 1859 towards Boni, Celebes. To transport the troops, horses and stores were several merchant ships hired. The next ships were mentioned in a list without many details.(1)

The Willem III, Ferdinandina Emma, Suzanna and the Tagale transported totally 1.000 coolies.
The Argo and the Wilhelmina Lucie served as colliers.(1)

1. The Royal Netherlands Navy possessed just a few transports of her own. This forced the Dutch and the Dutch East Indies governments to charter merchant ships to be used as transports and hospital ships.
