An item reported that around 20 August the Dutch corvette Zr.Ms. Sumatra (1) and the steamship Zr.Ms. Suriname (2) would arrived at Den Helder, Netherlands. They were ordered to escort the frigate Zr.Ms. Prins Hendrik der Nederland (3) and the steamship Zr. Ms. Ardjoeno (4) the Cape Verde Islands. The first two ships were from there destined towards the Mediterranean.

1845, used for towing Dutch ships loaded with grain returning from Elsinore,
Denmark in 1847, visited the Dutch West Indies/Surinam in 1847, served in the
Dutch East Indies since 1851, stricken in 1875, iron-built hull and wood upper
decks, dimensions 40,4 (between perpendiculars on load line) x 7,4 x 2,3
(fore)-2,7 (aft) x 4,56 (hold) metres, an armament of 6 guns and horsepower of
110 hp.
3. Frigate 2nd class, laid down by J. Vos
at the navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands on 3 September 1844, launched on 2
December 1847, renamed as floating battery Pollux in 1859, displacement 1.861
tons, dimensions 48 (load line) x 14,4 (inner hull) x 5,7 (fore)-6,2 (aft) x
6,6 (hold below upper deck ) metres and an armament of 38 (4-20”grenade guns,
20 long 30pd guns, 12-medium 30pd guns and 2 long 30 pd guns)-44 guns. Docked
as the Pollux on 30 August 1859, undocked on 20 September 1859 and finally
broken up.
4. Steam warship, call sign GQCK, on stocks at
Amsterdam, Netherlands 4 February 1849 as Pluto, launched on 1 or 2 September
1849, renamed Ardjoeno in December 1849, engines manufactured by the N.S.M.
(decided 26 August 1847 for ƒ 210.979,00 to deliver on 15 March 1849), trial on
28 April 1850, departed on 28 December 1850 towards the Dutch East Indies,
arrived there on 26 May 1851, stricken 1873, dimensions 56,00 x 10,70 x 4,80 metres,
displacement 1.486 tons and a horsepower of 300 hp.
