US Navy ordering large number of flying boats according to the Dutch newspaper Zaans volksblad dated 26 December 1939

An item reported that the US Navy ordered at the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation a number of huge flying boats with four engine for long distance flights to be used for defence patrol duties. According to a reliable source were fifty or more of this flying boats ordered. This order with a value of 20.016.669 US dollars was until then the largest aircraft order ever in the USA. Their range would be more as 5.000 kilometres.
