American destroyer USS Ericsson (1913-1934)on 1 September 1915

Building approved in 1912. First material ordered after a month. Keel laid after 11 months. Delivered to the US government after 2 years and 8 months. Contracted building time 2 years so 8 months too late.(1)

1. O’Brien-class. Ordered in March 1913. Laid down by the New York Shipbuilding Corporation, Camden, New Jersey with yard number 141 on 10 November 1913, launched on 22 August 1914 and commissioned on 14 August 19155. Hull number DD-56.
