With a horsepower of 70.000 ship supplied by the two-shaft geared steam turbines was her speed to be 29 knots. Range at maximum speed was 1.800 nautical miles and with 20 knots 4.200 nautical miles. She carried 42 aircraft with her. The crew numbered 1.112 men. She was slightly armoured, with a 6cm thick belt, the conning tower protected by 4-10cm thick armour and 3,5-6cm thick decks.
