After conversion into an aircraft carrier
Displacement 42.000 tons, horsepower 170.000, turbine geared machinery and an armament of 10-16” guns, 20-5” guns and 8 torpedo tubes (4 submerged and 4 surfaced). As a result of the Washington Treaty was she to be scrapped, bus she converted into an aircraft carrier.(1)

Laid down as a battlecruiser at Kure, Japan, on 6 December 1920, launched on 22 April 1925, commissioned on 25 March 1927 and scuttled after she was damaged during an American air attack in the Battle of Midway on 5 June 1942.
