USA not delivering motor torpedo boats to the United Kingdom according to the Dutch newspaper Utrechts volksblad dated Wednesday 26 June 1940

An item reported that the American president Roosevelt ordered on Monday to stop the negotiations with the United Kingdom about the sale of 20 motor torpedo boats to the United Kingdom. Reason for this decision was an advice of the American minister of Justice Jackson referred to a law dating 1917 forbidding American shipbuilders to deliver ships to countries involved in a war. The torpedo boats were originally ordered by the US Navy.
