An item referred to the Moniteur de la Flotte reporting that when the when as a result of the Washington Conference (1) the warships Kashima, Katou [Katori?], Satsuma, Aki, Ikoma. Kurama, Ikabi, Mikaza [Mikasa] and Hizzen [Hizen] were broken up, the Japanese navy except for the Kongo (built in 1911 by Vickers, England) consisted of ships built by Japanese shipyards.

1. Washington Naval Treaty signed in February 1922 by the major naval powers at that time limiting the tonnage of the capital ships and which treaty was also the end for the battle cruiser classes planned by Japan, United Kingdom (G3 class) and the USA (Lexington-class).
