Dutch screw steamship 4th class Zr. Ms. Samarang stationed off Riouw and Linga, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 1 March 1861


An item dated The Hague, Netherlands 28th February referred to tidings of 15th January dealing with the movements of the Dutch squadron in the Dutch East Indies. The Dutch steamship Zr. Ms. Samarang lieutenant 1st class J.L. Nierstrasz was stationed in the waters of Riouw and Linga, both in the Dutch East Indies and departed on 19 December 1860 from there towards Siak, Dutch East Indies.(1)

1. On stocks at the yard of Nederlandse Stoomboot Mij. Fijenoord at Rotterdam, Netherlands on 15 September 1845, launched in September 1846, stricken in 1863, displacement 400 tons, dimensions 38,00 x 7,21 x 2,85 metres, horsepower 70nhp, an armament of 7 guns and a crew numbering 49 men.
