Dutch tug (Bodewes VI 1916-1918, Holmen III 1918-1969, Holmvik 1969-1976, Jan van Gent 1976) Furie 1976

Built as the Bodewes VI for own account by the shipyard Scheepswerven v.h. Gebr. G.&H. Bodewes, Martenshoek, Netherlands in 1916. Sold to Holmen Bruks&Fabriks AB, Noorköping, Sweden and renamed Holmen III. On her sides was in huge letters Sverige painted to prevent attacks by the belligerents in the First World War. Sweden was then neutral. She was used for towing wood rafts towards the paper mills at Norrköping and Hallstavik. When in the 60’s trains and car replaced the tugs was she sold to her captain in 1969 and renamed Holmvik and used around Stockholm, Sweden. Bought by the Dutch television broadcasting company AVRO in 1976 to be used for television series based on the book Hollands Glorie written by the Dutch author Jan de Hartog. Arriving on 30 April that year at IJmuiden, Netherlands was she again Netherlands-flagged and registered as the Furie. In the series made in the Bantry Bay, Ireland and on the Ijsselmeer, Netherlands appeared she as the Jan van Gent and the Furie. Afterwards sold to the Handels Mij. Heise and laid up at Zaandam, Netherlands to be broken up. She was bought in 1978 by the Stichting Hollands Glorie and restored. Gross register tonnage and as dimensions 29,49 (between perpendiculars)-30,28 (over all0 x 6,07 x 3,10 metres. The originally coal fired Scottish boiler with two fires was made by the Dutch Machinefabriek Fulton. She is now fitted out with a 450 ihp triple expansion steam engine.
